SUGRA BAGIRZADE'S BIRTHDAY

10.02.2022

"In 1959, performing the song "My Chickens" for the first time on the stage of the Grand Theater in Moscow as part of the Azerbaijan Ten Days brought a big change in my life. When I graduated from school, I played more than a hundred films in the cinema studio, and at the same time I was in two films," says the member of the Union of Cinematographers of Azerbaijan, film actress, artist, Honored Artist Sugra Bagyrzade's birthday.

Sugra Bagyrzadeh was born on February 10, 1947. He studied at the Faculty of Chemical Technology of the Petrochemical Institute (now ASSU), and is an engineer by profession. After his studies, he worked at the Scientific Research Institute for some time. Later, he continued his work as a senior engineer of the technical department at the "Azerbaijanfilm" film studio. From childhood, he devoted his life to art and appeared in films. His hobby, which started as a passion for working with flowers, has developed over time. Thus, the compositions he created from natural flowers brought him fame as a florist-artist. "Floristika" is the founder of the public association called Support to Art.

"Roads and Streets" (1963), "The Star" (1964), "Apples to Apples" (1975), "The Lion Left Home" (1977), "Trap" (1990), "Dream" (2001), "Shooting" is postponed"(2002) and so on. He played various roles in films.

S. Bagyrzade says that by the time she finished school, she had already appeared in two films: "Roads and Streets" by Zeynab Kazimova, and the other one, everyone's favorite, "Ulduz". When I sang "My Chickens" on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow in 1959, the cameraman Yuliy Fogelman filmed this scene as an archival material, and I have remembered it ever since."

In 1964, director Agarza Guliyev made the film "Star" based on the play of the same name by composer Suleyman Alasgarov.

Yuliy Fogelman is invited to the cinematography work of the film comedy, which tells about the pure love of two loving young people, as well as the connection of science with life, the struggle of the leading intellectuals of the village against those who have nothing to do with science, officials.

When Y. Fogelman met the creative team, he asked the director of the film, Agarza Guliyev, to find S. Bagirzade. On that eve, the actress was already working together with famous artists in dubbing many films in the film studio.

Mrs. Sugra says that she was invited to the film studio and entrusted with the role of Yeter. But Yuliy Fogelman, as a cameraman, insisted on shooting me in this film. Even when he invited me to the test shoot, he told me to wear high heels and style my hair to look like a big girl. I did and they approved me for this role."

In 1975, director Arif Babayev directed the film "Apples are like apples" based on Alla Akhundova's script. The screenplay calls people to be honest and respect each other, shows that happiness lies only in halal hard work.

Although the actress was invited to play the role of a telephone operator in the film, she initially refused: "I heard that the main shooting of the film will be in Guba, I refused to take part. Because my daughter was very young, and because of my work as an engineer in a film studio, I could not leave Baku."

It should be noted that S. Bagırzade has been working as an engineer at the "Azerbaijanfilm" film studio since 1974. First, he was the head of the shift in the detection shop, and then the head of the film department: "It was a very responsible job. If I were shot, who would see my work here? That's why I told the creative team that I can't be part of the film. One day when I was not expecting it, they came and said, get ready, we are filming you. They set up the Guba scene in the pavilion of the cinema studio. He doesn't even know about me..."

The actress also notes that cinema is a collective art, the director must choose you, like you, and know that you are suitable for the role: "I used to devote a lot of time to my work as an engineer, so I couldn't go to filming. At that time, most of the films were shot in the regions, even on "film". I could not stay in the regions for months. "If you think about it, all the films, except for the film "Ulduz" in which I acted, were filmed in Baku."

Sugra Bagyrzadeh, who has been working since childhood and who attaches great importance to responsibility in her work life, was awarded the Order of "Benefit, Honor and Fame" by the United Nations Public Award Council of the International Awards Union in 2016 for her great contributions to culture, and "Progress" in 2018. " was awarded with the medal.

"There are many talented young actors and directors among us. The field of cinema is very developed all over the world. It would be good if our young actors study abroad, take master classes or go to film courses. A good student must have a good teacher," says Sugra Bagyrzadeh and adds that it is impossible that films that we cannot get enough of watching will not be made again. Nothing falls from the sky, you have to suffer to earn something.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Union of Cinematographers of Azerbaijan, we sincerely congratulate Sugra Bagirzadeh on her jubilee, and wish her good health, long life and new creativity.
